We work as dedicated breast imaging consultants in the NHS or radiologists with special interest in breast imaging.
We are members of the British society of breast radiology and European board of breast radiology.
There are a number of professionals involved in a breast team with specific roles but joint responsibility for your care, these are
1) Radiologist: X- ray doctor who performs clinical examination (in every screening clinic and some symptomatic clinics), reports different tests like mammogram, Ultrasound, CT scan, MRI scan and also performs imaging guided procedures like needle tests and biopsies.
2) Specialist or Consultant Radiographer- Some radiographers undertake extra training to report the mammograms and perform ultrasound.
3) Radiographer- They perform the mammograms for you and also help the radiologist in performing X-ray biopsies.
4) Surgeon- Surgical doctors who assesses and perform clinical examination for symptomatic patients and also perform surgery to remove any breast lump.
5) Breast care nurses/Macmillan nurses- They are specialist nurses who are your first point of contact for any query and also if you need to book an appointment with a specialist. They help and support you between different specialists.
6) Oncologist- Medical doctor with special training for treating cancer patients with chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, radiation therapy etc.
7) Assistant staff: They help other specialists during your investigations or treatment.
